The Chicago White Sox could move Lucas Giolito to the Baltimore Orioles.

Baltimore might be in the toughest division in baseball, the AL East. However, they are on the cusp of taking over first place from the Tampa Bay Rays.

Unless the Orioles have a complete collapse, they will make the postseason. It is just a matter of whether they will have to play in the Wild Card round or beat the Rays and get a bye into the ALDS.

Their starting rotation is not going to strike a ton of fear in whoever they face in October.

Kyle Bradish and Tyler Wells are the only pitchers with an ERA under 4.00. Dean Kremer has 10 wins but his ERA is over 4.50 and starting pitching wins really do not matter in the modern game.

Bradish is the only pitcher Baltimore has with a higher bWAR than Giolito. Wells also has a WHIP below one.

They need at least one more pitcher to give them a chance to win a postseason series. Giolito would fit in nicely in their rotation.

The Orioles have a stacked farm system. It is considered the best in baseball. So, they can beat any team’s offer for Giolito.

The system is full of hitting but light on pitching. The Sox on the other hand need an infusion of talent in their farm system and they have a pitcher who can help the Orioles compete in the playoffs.

Giolito might not be the dominant ace pitcher he was in 2020. He does have a 3.97 ERA in the postseason. He has experience pitching in a best-of-three series and pitching well in them.
