If the Dodgers want Giolito, it will be fun to see what the White Sox can get.

Rick Hahn has a history of getting a haul for a No. 2 or No. 3 starter like Giolito. He was able to get Eloy Jimenez and Dylan Cease for Jose Quintana in 2017. Eloy was the Chicago Cubs’ top prospect that year and Cease was the No. 4 prospect in the Cubs’ system.

Last year’s market saw the Minnesota Twins send their No. 7, No. 18, and No. 23 prospect to the Cincinnati Reds for Tyler Mahle. The Cardinals gave up their 10th-best prospect and another talented future player to rent Quintana from the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The New Yankees packaged their No. 5, No. 10, No. 20, and No. 21 prospects to acquire Frankie Montas and reliever Lou Trivino from the Oakland Athletics. Montas did have another year of club control when he was picked up by the Yankees.

Luis Castillo was the top pitcher available on the market at last year’s trade deadline. The Mariners sent three of their top five prospects to the Reds. Although, Castillo still had one year left of arbitration eligibility.

Baseball-Reference.com had Giolito similar to Jose Berrios when they were 26. Berrios was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays at the 2021 trade deadline. The Twins got the Jays’ 16th and 68th-best prospect in exchange.
