The Chicago White Sox should be in sell mode at the trade deadline. The 2023 season is lost and the rebuild failed to yield a World Series. Now, general manager Rick Hahn must hit the reset button.

Although, Hahn is a big reason the Chicago White Sox only won two playoff games after an extensive overhaul that began in 2016.

Poor roster construction, draft, and player development sunk any hopes of winning a championship.

Hahn will be the one who is now in charge of selling off the assets that the team has. Despite the poor outcome this season, the Chicago White Sox have players that will bring back good returns in a trade.

One player rumored to be on the move is starter Lucas Giolito. The Los Angeles Dodgers are one of many potential suitors interested in acquiring Giolito.

The Chicago White Sox might be willing to trade Lucas Giolito this month.

Giolito will be a free agent after the season so the return might not be as high since he will be a rental. He has a 3.45 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, and 117 strikeouts this season. He is a 2.8 bWAR player this year and a former All-Star.

Then again, CBS Sports considers Giolito the second-best starting pitcher and player available on the trade market. The New York Post’s John Heyman has Giolito as the third-best starting pitcher available.

Shohei Ohtani is the top player potentially available on the market and the Dodgers are rumored to want him.

He will cost a lot more than Giolito. The Dodgers might prefer to go with trading for Lucas now and pursuing Ohtani through free agency in the offseason.
