The Chicago Blackhawks are trying their best to be a better team in time for Connor Bedard’s rookie season.

They likely won’t be a playoff team or anything like that but they don’t want to be losing almost every night as they develop their new young star.

One way to do that is to make sure that they develop the goaltending position. They already have Petr Mrazek but Alex Stalock is moving on.

Arvid Soderblom has a very bright future but playing on this bad team will do no favors for him in his development. The same can be said about Drew Commesso but he doesn’t have any prior NHL experience yet. The Rockford Ice Hogs would be best for both of them in 2023-24.

John Gibson might be a great goalie for the Chicago Blackhawks to consider.

The Hawks could look for an outsider to come in and play with Mrazek this year. One player to consider is John Gibson of the Anaheim Ducks.

Gibson had a point where he was one of the best goalies in the world. Over the last three years, however, the Ducks have been bad in front of him and he has suffered.

There are mixed reports out there about him requesting a trade out of Anaheim which would make a ton of sense given the situation.

The Hawks might not be much better defensively this upcoming season but he could absolutely use a change of scenery. Especially if his new team had the hype surrounding a new number-one pick.

One of these three trade packages might land the Hawks John Gibson if they wanted to go down that road:
