NHL 2023 Mock Draft: Blackhawks lead a generational year
The top ten will be rounded out by some very good NHL prospects.
Matthew Wood is a fantastic young forward who would love to join a team like the Washington Capitals. It is unclear if whoever they actually draft will get to skate with Alexander Ovechkin but he has some big nights ahead of him over the next three seasons.
Washington is looking for people that they can develop while standing competitive enough to give Ovechkin a chance to break the all-time goal record. Matthew Wood might be able to help with that.
The Nashville Predators have something up their sleeve. They are looking like a team that is starting to rebuild now that Barry Trotz is the man in charge of the front office.
Colby Barlow of the Owen Sound is someone that they can get behind as they start this process. With the draft being held in Nashville, they will want to hit a home run here.
The St. Louis Blues are adding a lot of talent to their NHL roster so far this off-season and that is coming off a year in which they off-loaded a bunch of really good players.
Well, they also want to hit on this tenth-overall pick because it doesn’t seem like they want to be picking this high again next year.
Gabe Perrault is someone that can help them do that. He is a very good forward that should be drafted in this range and makes a ton of sense for the Blues.
