Blackhawks News: This new regular season schedule is exciting

The Chicago Blackhawks and the rest of the National Hockey League released their schedules for the 2023-24 season.

We saw the league have its NHL Awards on Monday night and that put a bow on a very nice year for the league. Obviously, the Blackhawks are happy with how their “bad season” turned out.

Now, we officially flipped into the next year. This new Blackhawks schedule came out and they did a very fun job presenting it to the world.

They started by putting out a video with some of their most notable matchups as hot dogs. Games against their division rivals, the Stanley Cup champions, and opening night are all featured in the video. For plenty of obvious reasons, this was a very clever idea.

Following the video featuring the notable games, the whole home schedule got put out with the different matchups as hot dogs as well.

Connor Bedard, who will be drafted by the Blackhawks first overall on Wednesday, will make his NHL debut against Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday, October 10th. Obviously, a lot of eyes will be on this game.

Bedard’s first game at the United Center will come on October 21st against the Stanley Cup champion Vegas Golden Knights. That is just one of two home games (10/24 vs the Boston Bruins) in the month of October.

Every month after that is pretty even except for February which will make up for that road-heavy October. They will have one road game (2/19 vs Carolina Hurricanes) during that entire month in the middle of nine home games.

The final home game of the regular season is on April 14th against the Hurricanes. They will then hit the road to close the year with one at the Vegas Golden Knights (4/16) and one at the Los Angeles Kings (4/17).

With Bedard along with some of the other additions there, some exciting moments are expected to take place during the year no matter what happens in the standings.

This is a hockey team that is going to be very much fun to watch. The new year can’t come fast enough.
