Chicago White Sox News: Luis Robert Jr named AL Player of the Week
The emergence of Luis Robert Jr becoming a Major League Baseball superstar is well underway for the Chicago White Sox.
Robert had a two-home run performance against the Boston Red Sox on Sunday and with his performance, etched his name in White Sox history by having at least 20 home runs and 20 doubles with the team during the first half of a regular season.
The accolades have not stopped for Robert as it was announced on Monday that Robert was the American League Player of the Week.

Robert was incredible this past week for the White Sox as he slashed .444/.524/1.111 with 4 home runs.
Development in Major League Baseball is never linear. That is a harsh truth that the White Sox have learned over recent seasons as it would seem that their core of young players never took the expected next step.
Chicago White Sox center field Luis Robert Jr is in the midst of a breakout season and the awards are starting.
Having said that, that is why Robert’s emergence this season is so important. Regardless of how the White Sox finish the season, there is no question that the team will need to reconstruct their core beginning this season. Shortstop Tim Anderson should not be the face of the next contending White Sox team.
Of all the players that the current White Sox core consists of, Robert was always believed to be the one with the most potential. Robert projected to be a five-tool player at the Major League level and we are finally seeing that come to fruition.
If the White Sox find themselves back over the .500 mark later this season and contending for first place in the American League Central, Robert is going to be the reason. To that end, if that is the case, Robert is going to have a legitimate case for being the American League Most Valuable Player. It goes without saying that Robert and his truest form have finally arrived for the White Sox.
