Chicago Bulls Rumors: Interest expected in Derrick Rose
The news over the weekend for the Chicago Bulls centered around former point guard Derrick Rose as the New York Knicks announced on Saturday that the team would not be picking up Rose’s club option for the 2023-2023 NBA season.
Bulls fans instantly began dreaming about a reunion and the dream could very well turn into reality.
NBA Insider Marc Stein reported on Substack on Monday that the Bulls are among the teams that are expected to express an interest in Rose.

There should be legitimate questions about the merit of the Bulls’ interest in Derrick Rose. Interest in the Bulls is waning considering how apparent it is that the team is not going to be a legitimate contender in the Eastern Conference with their current core. The Bulls are in desperate need of a major move this week as NBA Free Agency begins on June 30 and to that end, one would have to wonder why Rose is the first player that the team is rumored to be targeting.
The Chicago Bulls are eyeing the potential return of point guard Derrick Rose.
In the Bulls’ eyes, the team is aware that they need a “win” in regards to how fans view the team. Signing Rose would represent that win for the Bulls’ front office as it will be a way for the team to sell tickets as there undoubtedly would be excitement over the return of the former NBA MVP to his hometown.
The issue, however, remains that Rose is not a fit for what this Bulls’ basketball team needs. If the Bulls truly do intend to go into next season with the same core and the feel-good story of Rose returning, it will be another misstep by the organization.
For Rose, having already experienced being a superstar in his hometown, he may have his eye on an NBA title. If that is the driving force for his decision, then taking less and signing with either the Phoenix Sun or Milwaukee Bucks would be more appealing.
