Blackhawks Trade News: Taylor Hall is coming to Chicago
The rumors from earlier in the afternoon came to be true. The Chicago Blackhawks and Boston Bruins have made a huge trade.
Boston is sending forward Taylor Hall to Chicago. Hall is a left-wing that was the number one overall pick in 2010 before winning the Hart Trophy in 2018 as a member of the New Jersey Devils.
In his career so far, Hall has 264 goals and 429 assists for 693 points in 822 career games. His career year came in that 2018 Hart Trophy-winning season when he had 93 points to lead a mediocre New Jersey team to the playoffs.
Now, after bouncing around a little bit, he is going to come to the Chicago Blackhawks where he is hoping to help them make a change.
The Chicago Blackhawks have acquired Taylor Hall in a big-time trade.
In addition to Hall, Nick Foligno is going back to Chicago. That is some size and experience to go along with Hall in a huge trade. Connor Bedard, who Chicago will select first overall later this week, has some skill and protection being added to the lineup because of this deal.
Foligno is a UFA but the Hawks will certainly be looking to hammer out a contract deal with him before the start of free agency. We’ll see if it can get done.
Going back to Boston is the RFA rights to Ian Mitchell and Alec Regula. This is Boston getting two young players in exchange for some significant cap space.
Ian Mitchell had Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery at Denver in college and now they will be reunited once Boston and Mitchell get a deal done. Both of these players will get some time to develop in the Bruins system.
This is a very interesting trade for both sides. Chicago is getting some very good and useful players while the Bruins are clearing a ton of cap space.
Taylor Hall is the type of player that might thrive with more playing time. He will surely find success playing with Bedard in addition to some of the other young players that the Hawks have.
Chicago is not going to be a good team just because they are adding Taylor Hall but this is a great idea for helping their new young star develop.
