The Chicago Blackhawks traded Patrick Kane to the New York Rangers at the 2023 NHL Trade Deadline. For obvious reasons, that was a very tough day for Chicago sports fans.

Kane has meant everything to this team over the course of their recent history. He can be argued as the greatest player that the team has ever had.

The New York Rangers featuring Kane were eliminated in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs by the New Jersey Devils in seven games.

Obviously, the season (with the Blackhawks or Rangers) didn’t go the way that Kane would have wanted. After the year, however, we learned for sure that he had been dealing with a hip injury.

Former Chicago Blackhawks superstar Patrick Kane is trying to get healthy.

Three weeks ago, Kane had surgery to repair his hip. It is a procedure that is coming at a bad time for Kane as he is looking for a new NHL home. Whoever he signs with has to know that he is going to miss the start of the season.

Well, some updates on Kane came out and fans of watching him play are going to be very happy with it. Charlie Roumeliotis of NBC Sports Chicago tweeted an update on his progress.

It appears from the videos that Kane is practicing his shooting and skating. He is using some sort of special harness to practice his skating which is pretty incredible to see. It looks as if he is well ahead of schedule just three weeks removed from surgery.

This is great news for Kane. It is sure to make teams think he can be ready to contribute at some point in 2023-24. It also shows teams his dedication to getting back to being an elite player once again.

The Chicago Blackhawks are not going to be that team. They traded him away for a reason. They also announced that Jonathan Toews isn’t coming back for a reason. The goal is to move forward to a new generation.

Connor Bedard is coming to town so Hawks fans will have to get used to the new superstar in town. It won’t take them that long when they see how good he is.

As cool as it would be to see Kane back so he can play with Bedard, it just isn’t happening. Regardless, it is great to know that this Chicago legend is on the mend.
