London Series: Chicago Cubs look to stay hot overseas

The Chicago Cubs and the St. Louis Cardinals have played against one another for a very long time. It has become a very good rivalry in Major League Baseball that everybody loves. Now, they are taking this overseas where they will face off in the London Series.

The two games on Saturday and Sunday will take place at London Stadium in London, United Kingdom. It should be an incredible display of the great game of baseball between two iconic teams.

Lots of other sports have had tremendous success overseason and Major League Baseball is no different.

The St. Louis Cardinals are, as of right now, one of the most disappointing teams in all of baseball. After a really fun 2022 season, 2023 has been a borderline disaster. They are 31-44 which is good for last place in the NL Central Division.

The Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals are going in opposite directions.

The Cubs, however, are rising. They are 36-38 which isn’t amazing at all but they have won three in a row and are winners of eight games in their last ten. This stretch has gotten them to within 3.5 games of the NL Central-leading Cincinnati Reds.

Cincinnati is the actual problem for the Cubs right now. They are heading into a series with the best team in the National League (Atlanta Braves) riding an 11-game winning streak. The Cubs better hope Atlanta slows them down and that they get some big wins overseas.

Although there is some serious business to take care of here in terms of Central Division seeding, it is always just fun to watch these types of games.

You don’t see your team play in London too often so Cubs fans should take this all in. Enjoy Dansby Swanson, Seiya Suzuki, and Nico Hoerner amongst some of the other great Cubs players that they have right now.

Justin Steele will start the Saturday game for the Cubs. He will face Adam Wainwright of the Cardinals at 12:10 local time (CT). On Sunday, Marcus Stroman of the Cubs will face Jack Flaherty of the Cardinals at 9:10 AM local time (CT). Make sure you have your coffee ready.

Baseball is an amazing game and fans from all over the world deserve to see it from time to time at the highest level. This series between the Cubs and the Cardinals will be fun to watch because of what it means to play overseas but also because of how hot the Cubs are trying to remain.
