Tyler Toffoli would fit in well with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2023

The Chicago Blackhawks are a team in transition. Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane are gone while the group of young players that they have are ready to step up.

That group will include Connor Bedard in less than a week when the Chicago Blackhawks make him the number one overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft.

At that point, everything they do will be about developing him into the player that we all know he has the potential to be.

Part of that will be getting him linemates so he is ready to hit the ground running in the NHL. There are plenty of options out there for them to think about.

Well, another option just became available on Thursday. The Calgary Flames, a team that seems to be headed for a complete teardown, are looking to trade Tyler Toffoli.

Tyler Toffoli and the Chicago Blackhawks make perfect sense for each other.

This report of a trade is out after reports of him not wanting to resign there. Of course, Toffoli just had a career year there where he had 34 goals and 39 assists for 73 points. Those are all career highs in his age-30 season.

He likely won’t put up those kinds of numbers again but he will still be a very good player for a few more years. He has one year left on his deal at 4.25 million against the cap. Unless the team acquiring him extends him, he is a one-year rental.

Toffoli has bounced around a little bit before reaching the Calgary Flames but he is a Stanley Cup champion with the Los Angeles Kings.

That kind of experience and skill would go great on a line with Connor Bedard. All summer we are going to discuss what players would work with Bedard and Tofolli is one of them.

With the fact that everybody knows he is available in addition to him entering his age-31 season, he might not be all that expensive to trade for.

This is something that just might be on Kyle Davidson’s radar as he gets the off-season going. Seeing who they land will be interesting in addition to seeing what happens in this Toffoli story. It would be nice to see the Hawks make a move like this to help Bedard right away.
