Blackhawks: 3 wild trade packages to get Alex DeBrincat back
The Chicago Blackhawks may consider giving up a lot for Alex DeBrincat.
There could be a world where an NHL team pays a lot for Alex DeBrincat. Maybe it won’t be the steep price that was a seventh-round pick and then some like in 2022 but it could be close.
A 2023 second that is the Hawks’ original pick is amazing because it is early in the second round. Throw in a fifth-round pick and you beef up their draft board a little bit.
There is also Alex Vlasic who is a young defenseman that was drafted in the second round of the 2019 NHL Draft.
Obviously, he has a very nice ceiling in the NHL but they can’t keep all of these young defensemen. Kevin Korchinski, Nolan Allan, Ethan del Mastro, and Wyatt Kaiser are all probably ahead of him at this point.
Drew Commesso is a fantastic young goalie that was great with Boston University over the past few years and now he is ready to play pro hockey. With Arvid Soderblom in the system and the potential to bring in a free agent over the years, Commesso could be trade bait.
The Ottawa Senators need all of these things for their future but it will be interesting to see what they actually target in a deal for DeBrincat. The Hawks are an unlikely destination but it is still fun to think about him on a line with Bedard and what it would take to land him back.
