The Chicago Blackhawks are a team looking to upgrade quickly so that they are at least respectable in 2023-24.

The reason they want to be respectable is the fact that Connor Bedard is coming to town. They won the draft lottery and now big things are ahead for them.

Of course, it is going to take some time. They want to develop this kid and the team the right way. One way to help him out is to give him great linemates.

One to consider is Alex DeBrincat who is a trade possibility. The Blackhawks traded him to the Ottawa Senators last year for a haul and now the Sens might have to move him again because he doesn’t want to resign.

The team that gets him won’t get anything close to what the Hawks got but it will still cost something. These three trade packages might get it done:

The Blackhawks could get Alex DeBrincat using some second-round picks.

The Chicago Blackhawks would look so much better with Alex DeBrincat in the mix going forward. They got a lot for him last off-season which is nice but that much isn’t going for him this time around.

In addition to getting a lot for him last year, they also were a worse team without him which helped them land Bedard. Now, giving up some assets to get him back makes sense.

The two 2023 second-round picks being sent away here are not original Blackhawks selections. The Brandon Hagel trade and Patrick Kane trade landed them these selections from the Tampa Bay Lightning and New York Rangers respectively.

As for Alec Regula, he is a 22-year-old defenseman that needs to be signed as an RFA right now. He has some NHL games under his belt but he has been pretty productive in the AHL with the Rockford Ice Hogs.

Ottawa might want to give a player like that a chance. If they did and value two more second-round picks in this generational draft, they might think about a deal like this.
