The Chicago Bears were one of four teams that the NFL could force to participate in HBO’s upcoming season of “Hard Knocks” but it would appear the Bears will get their longstanding wish of avoiding the show.

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk joined the “Mully and Haugh Show” on Tuesday morning and revealed that the NFL is looking for a team outside of the four teams (Chicago Bears, New Orleans Saints, Washington Commanders, and New York Jets) that could be forced into doing the show.

If you remember, the criteria for where a team could be forced to participate in “Hard Knocks” is if the team has a tenured head coach and missed the playoffs in the past two seasons along with having not been on the show in the past ten years.

Bears’ chairman George McCaskey has never been a fan of the team’s doing “Hard Knocks” and his comments made earlier this off-season prove that his stance has not changed.

McCaskey is not wrong, either. The Jets definitely would be the biggest draw for HBO’s hit NFL series. Entering the first season with the NFL’s most polarizing quarterback in Aaron Rodgers, the Jets will have no shortage of storylines to follow during training camp.

The Chicago Bears have once again dodged the attention of being on HBO’s “Hard Knocks”.

Though, if we’re being honest, the idea of “Hard Knocks” is antiquated. Initially, “Hard Knocks” allowed for unprecedented coverage into a team’s training camp and pre-season.

However, with the advancements in technology and more NFL teams having the capability to provide such access in-house, there creates little need for the access generated from a network such as HBO.

Look no further than this tweet by the Bears’ social media team:

Much like the Chicago Bears and their continued hope of securing a stadium deal with Arlington Heights, they want full autonomy over their product.
