Blackhawks: 3 Vegas Golden Knights free agents to consider
The Chicago Blackhawks have a lot of things they need right now. It is going to take a long time to become a Stanley Cup contender again.
After getting the number one pick in the 2023 NHL Draft, they are hoping that Connor Bedard can lead them to the promised land.
The team that did win the Stanley Cup, the Vegas Golden Knights, has some free agents that could be leaving the team.
A few of them would make sense for Kyle Davidson and the Blackhawks to consider. These are the three free agents for the Hawks to consider from Vegas this summer:
1. Phil Kessel
Adding Phil Kessel for 2023-24 would be awesome for the Chicago Blackhawks.
Everybody needs good vibes in order to succeed. Few people provide that more than Phil Kessel. He has been one of the best players in the NHL during his career and is now a three-time Stanley Cup champion.
Kessel played in all 82 games during the regular season for the Vegas Golden Knights. During the season, he became the NHL’s all-time iron man.
He didn’t, however, play much in the playoffs. He suited up against the Winnipeg Jets in the first round and then didn’t play from there on.
Kessel was still very much a part of winning the Stanley Cup for Vegas. The things he did for them off-the-ice will be remembered forever.
The Hawks could use a guy like that. Connor Bedard is coming in and could use a guy like Kessel in the room to help him grow his game. It would also just be a good person to have around in case the media coverage becomes too much. He knows how to handle that very well.
If Kessel isn’t done in the NHL, the Blackhawks would be a good place for him. The vibes will be good, it is a young team, he’ll get some playing time, and the Hawks might pay him a tad more than some other teams.
