The Chicago Cubs had a fair amount of expectations to be better this year and they have failed to meet them up to this point. They are a fourth-place team in a bad division.

It can be said that they will continue to improve as the years go along but they are falling out of it in 2023 quickly.

The Cubs can still save their season due to the fact that they play in this wild NL Central Division. If they want to do that, some changes might need to be made.

If they want to save their 2023 season, they should do what they can to move on from these three players:

1. Miles Mastrobuoni

The Chicago Cubs should be moving on from Miles Mastrobuoni.

Miles Mastrobuoni is on the Cubs roster for some reason. He is an outfielder that just doesn’t deserve to be there right now.

There are going to be injuries but Miles Mastrobuoni doesn’t help the team win. He has played in just 26 games and his WAR is -0.5. His slash line is .153/.254/.186 for an OPS of .440.

Those stats are about as bad as you can get in the league. Mastrobuoni is 27 years old and has only played a few games in the big leagues with the Cubs and Tampa Bay Rays.

Obviously, that is for a reason. There are other players in the organization that deserve a chance more than him right now. The Cubs should not be having him get plate appearances at all. The faster they find a way to move on, the closer they’d be to saving their season.
