Trade Number 5: The Chicago Bulls trade DeMar DeRozan to the Dallas Mavericks

Last season, the Dallas Mavericks shot and whiffed on trading for Kyrie Irving. Well, the trade went through. But, the Mavericks were no better from the move. Instead, it was more of the same: mediocrity.

In order to compete in the West, the Mavericks need to add a legitimate running mate alongside Luka Doncic. That guy could easily be DeRozan, and with only one year left on his deal, DeRozan should be gettable.

In this trade, Dallas sends guards Tim Hardaway Jr. and Josh Green, along with the no. 10 overall pick this year, in exchange for DeRozan. From here, it’s go time for the Mavericks. They would be going all-in on winning a title this year, and adding DeRozan might not be their only major move of the offseason.

Hardaway Jr. gives the Bulls a good 3-and-D player for the next two years, while Green is only 22 years old and a former first-round pick back in 2020 that the Bulls can try and develop further.
