Chicago Bears: 10 players who won’t be on the roster in 2024
By Ryan Heckman
Chase Claypool won’t be on the Chicago Bears roster in 2024
This is a pretty bold prediction, because Poles traded a highly-valuable second-round pick to Pittsburgh in exchange for Chase Claypool last year. However, not every trade and signing is going to pan out, and Bears fans will need to understand that, just as Poles will learn to understand.
Next year, both Claypool and Darnell Mooney are free agents. The Bears likely won’t be able to re-sign both of them, especially considering that they have DJ Moore under a hefty contract as well. Because Mooney has clear chemistry with Justin Fields and has been so consistent during his time in Chicago, it makes more sense to keep him, although the Bears will be without a big body after letting Claypool walk.
Dante Pettis won’t be on the Chicago Bears roster in 2024
The wide receiver position will look a little different next year without Claypool, and Dante Pettis will also be an odd man looking in after being let go as soon as this year. The drafting of rookie Tyler Scott out of Cincinnati also makes someone like Pettis expendable, because of Scott’s skill set. Scott is going to make it easier on the Bears to lose players like Claypool and Pettis, among others possibly, too.
This roster is taking shape, but it’s no where near set for the future. Pettis’ journey will continue as he pursues opportunities elsewhere in 2024, or even prior to the upcoming season.
