We are at that point in the hockey calendar where the Stanley Cup Final is still going on but some folks are already looking ahead. Of course, Chicago Blackhawks fans are thinking about Connor Bedard. He is one of the most hyped-up prospects in the history of the NHL.

Well, the NHL Scouting Combine is here and Connor Bedard had some media availability. The attention is all on him as the draft approaches. He is also going to be selected by a team that plays in a major city so that will hype him up even more.

When you had the junior career that he did, it is easy to see why people use the word “generational”. He was dominant everywhere he played including his Regina Pats season along with the World Junior Championships. Now, it is time for the NHL.

He was asked about potentially coming to Chicago. He will for sure never act like it is a guarantee until after the selection is made but he seems to know where he is going (as he should).

His answer was simple. He said it would be an honor to be selected by the Chicago Blackhawks. He also referenced the long history of the organization and the history of the other sports teams that reside in Chicago.

The Chicago Blackhawks will be lucky to select Connor Bedard this month.

The Chicago Blackhawks, Bears, White Sox, Bulls, and Cubs usually don’t do a lot of winning but they have all had tons of elite players that became legends in town forever. Bedard is next in line.

His dream of playing in the NHL is very close to being realized and he knows it. He is confident in his abilities but he is also a very down-to-earth kid. The fans in this city are going to love him.

Based on his criteria of what makes a city awesome for an athlete, he should like playing for the fans just as much.

Hearing Bedard make all of these nice comments about the franchise should feel good for them. He is excited to wear the red sweater at the United Center and he is sure to be very good at it once the time comes. The draft can’t come fast enough but the combine will do for now.
