The Chicago Blackhawks are going to make Connor Bedard the first overall selection in the 2023 NHL Draft later this month. They won the lottery back in May with the third-best odds.

There was also a chance that they won the second overall pick via a lottery. People would have been extremely happy with that too but Connor Bedard is obviously the better option.

If the Hawks would have won the second overall pick, they would have drafted Adam Fantilli out of the University of Michigan. He is one of only a few players to ever win the Hobey Baker as a freshman.

Obviously, Fantilli is projected to be a very good NHL player. He has the ceiling of a superstar in this league. The Anaheim Ducks ended up with that selection and will have Fantilli join their young core that they are building led by guys like Trevor Zegras, Mason McTavish, and Troy Terry.

The Chicago Blackhawks are in need of a kid like Connor Bedard right now.

Adam Fantilli had some really nice things to say about Bedard on Friday. Fantilli believes that Bedard is going to exceed expectations which is saying something because Bedard has some of the highest expectations in the history of the league.

Fantilli called him a phenomenal player and a great kid. He says that he deserves everything he is getting. For a kid in Fantilli’s position to be saying these things about Bedard is great to hear. Clearly, it comes from the heart.

This is a kid that has done everything he needed to do in his draft year to go first overall. The only thing he did wrong was be born in the same year as Connor Bedard.

Seeing that the future Blackhawks star has this level of respect from his peers speaks volumes about his character. This franchise is getting a stud both on and off the ice.

It is one thing to be a good player. It is another to be a generational talent. Being a good person/teammate
