Strongest positions on the Chicago Bears roster: No. 2, Wide Receiver

Who would have thought, as recent as just last season, that the Bears would be so strong at wide receiver? The acquisition of D.J. Moore was absolutely what catapulted this position into being one of the top strengths in Chicago. Moore is the alpha wide receiver Fields has long needed, and fills that hole nicely.

But, let’s not forget now that Fields has a pair of solid WR2 options in Darnell Mooney and Chase Claypool; both of whom have different skill sets and can be used in multiple ways. Mooney will be your classic deep threat and someone who can work the middle of the field. Meanwhile, Claypool’s size and speed can be used on end-arounds, screens, and other creative varieties.

The Bears also drafted Tyler Scott out of Cincinnati this year, in the fourth round, and he’ll come in as another deep threat for this offense. Scott will allow the Bears some flexibility in case they cannot re-sign both Mooney and Claypool in 2024.

From there, Chicago has Equanimeous St. Brown, who is still one of the better blocking wide receivers in the league, which is why he should have a roster spot locked down. Velus Jones Jr. is also still hanging around, entering his second year, and hopefully he can bounce back from a rough rookie campaign.
