Strongest positions on the Chicago Bears roster: No. 3, Running Back
It seems like the Bears are always going to be stacked at running back, year after year. This season, we saw David Montgomery depart via free agency. The next man up, Khalil Herbert, is more than capable of taking over the RB1 duties.
But, behind Herbert there is plenty of depth and talent to be used in a variety of ways. The Bears signed D’Onta Foreman, formerly of the Panthers, who has enjoyed a nice career resurgence after some early injury woes. Foreman is a banger and can be effective between the tackles.
Chicago also signed Travis Homer to be more of the third down type, and he’s also an excellent pass blocker and special teams player.
In addition, the Bears drafted Texas running back Roschon Johnson in the fourth round this year, and many believe he could make a big impact even as a rookie. Could Johnson take over the starting role by next season? It’s quite possible. The former quarterback hasn’t looked back since switching positions, and possesses one of the nastiest stiff arms in the game today, professional or college.
