As the offseason gets set to kick into full gear here soon for the Chicago Bulls, fans are starting to wonder just what exactly the organization is thinking going forward.

At the moment, it seems like the team is set to continue the trend of mediocrity. Just recently, it was made known that the Bulls are working on a multi-year extension with Nikola Vucevic, courtesy of the Chicago Sun Times’ Joe Cowley.

If that’s the case, then the Bulls are going to be stuck for quite some time. Meanwhile, the team which sent Vucevic to Chicago in the first place is set up much nicer for their future.

The Orlando Magic have a decent, young core to work with that very well could compete if they were to make the right moves here in the near future. What if the Magic and the Bulls were to work out a deal? Let’s look at some hypothetical trades these two organizations could consider.

Trade Number 1: The Chicago Bulls execute a sign-and-trade with a familiar swap of names

This would be an interesting deal, to say the least. Everything would come full-circle for the Bulls, who would send Vucevic back to Orlando on a sign-and-trade. Funny enough, the Magic would send Wendell Carter Jr. right back to the Bulls after the two players were once involved in the same trade a few years ago.

The kicker, here, is that the Magic also get one of the league’s premier perimeter defenders in Alex Caruso, who is on a very affordable deal, considering his All NBA status.

Orlando gets their guy back in Vucevic, who can still score with the best of the big men around the NBA. But, they get an elite defensive player to come in and play big minutes while mentoring some of the younger players.

Caruso’s presence will undoubtedly shift the defensive mindset for this Magic team toward being an even better team on that side of the ball.

Chicago would also get former first-round pick, guard Jalen Suggs, and their own first rounder back in this year’s draft.
