Moves the Chicago Bulls should make instead of re-signing Nikola Vucevic: Sign Naz Reid

According to some outlets, Naz Reid is anywhere from the third to sixth-best free agent center available this summer. But, Vucevic is atop the majority of lists, and justifiably so. That means he’ll likely be the most expensive of them all, too, even though he is going to be 33 years old when this next regular seasons comes around.

Reid, meanwhile, is going to be 24 years old this fall. He is someone the Bulls could sign long-term and keep as a cornerstone piece for when they do have additional draft capital and financial freedom, depending on what they do with the other big contracts on the books.

Reid is a valuable scorer and rebounder, who started just 11 games last year for the Minnesota Timberwolves. But, he proved to come up big in some crucial moments for the Wolves. His flashes of greatness came when it mattered most, later in games with tight scores.

The energy he brings and late-game scoring ability is something the Bulls would love to have. Not to mention, again, the youth is there.
