Chicago Cubs: It is time for them to fire David Ross

The Chicago Cubs are one of the worst teams in the National League. That is why it was stunning when they took a 2-0 series lead over the Tampa Bay Rays earlier in the week. That is what two great starting pitching performances will do for you.

In the third game, the Cubs blew a lead but then had a chance to win it in the ninth. Unfortunately, throughout the game, David Ross made some decisions that made it hard for them to pull it off. Miles Mastobuoni was the only one available to pinch hit and it went as you’d expect.

There have also been criticisms over Ross’s bullpen management all season long which is not something that is good to hear. Managing the bullpen is half the battle for these guys trying to win games at the highest level.

As of right now, it seems that Ross is on the bad side of Cubs fans as he isn’t doing what is needed to be done to win. Now, Jed Hoyer’s front office set up the roster which isn’t David Ross’s fault but he isn’t managing it all that well.

The Chicago Cubs may need a change in the manager position soon.

It might be time for the Cubs to fire Ross. The roster was seen (although that was a bad vision) as one that can somewhat compete this year and they are failing to even be .500.

Ross will always be remembered for his heroics with multiple different Major League teams including the Cubs. He is a smart baseball man as a former catcher but this just isn’t working out for him right now.

If he were to be fired, he feels like someone that might get an opportunity somewhere else but that somewhere else might need a much better roster. He isn’t handling the bad roster in Chicago very well.

Maybe the Cubs will keep him for the season because there isn’t really anyone that is saving this team at this point. He may prove everyone wrong.

If that is the case, it will be a good thing for the Cubs as it means they are winning and he is doing his job well. As of right now though, this isn’t it.
