2. Trey Mancini

The Chicago Cubs should let go of Trey Mancini as soon as they can.

Trey Mancini is one of the good guys in the history of Major League Baseball. Unfortunately, he isn’t helping the Chicago Cubs win baseball games and he is just taking up a roster spot at this point.

Mancini isn’t a starter on this team and he has been really bad when he was on the field. He has a negative WAR for a reason.

Now that they have called up guys like Matt Mervis and Christopher Morel, there just really isn’t a spot for him on the roster.

If the Cubs did cut Mancini, he would likely be picked up relatively quickly. It would probably be by a different bad team too and he’d get more playing time. It could also be by a good team looking for some depth and a change of scenery for him.

That worked in 2022 as the Houston Astros acquired him to be a depth piece and ended up winning the World Series.

The Cubs are just a young team that doesn’t need a guy like this right now. If he isn’t there by July, don’t be surprised.
