The Chicago Cubs are just not a very good baseball team. Over the off-season, they signed a bunch of bad players that used to be good and it fooled everyone.

Now, they sit here entering June wondering why they stink but it is because rebuilds don’t work like that. Yes, they have a few very good players now to build around. There is a long way to go though.

We’ve already seen them make some call-ups, demotions, and DFAs early on in the year and they were all necessary. For a few of them, they felt a month too late.

With June upon us, you can’t help but wonder who is entering their last month on the Chicago Cubs roster. These three players very well could be gone by July:

1. Michael Fulmer

The Chicago Cubs should be cutting Michael Fulmer as soon as possible.

The Chicago Cubs do not need to have Michael Fulmer on their roster anymore. They probably wouldn’t get anything for him in a trade so they should just DFA him.

Knowing that David Ross has him available is not a good thing. He has blown way too many games for the team and should not be even considered for the setup or closing spot.

Jed Hoyer should just do the right thing right now and let Fulmer go. There are plenty of younger players that give them a better chance in addition to just having a brighter future.

Fulmer has a negative WAR, an ERA over 7, and a WHIP of 1.615. Obviously, that is an atrocious stat line. There is just no reason to have him by July first.
