On Tuesday night, Chicago White Sox reliever Liam Hendriks returned to Major League Baseball. He was diagnosed with cancer during the off-season and has been dealing with that ever since.

Of course, that was the fight for his life and he won. He was then allowed to return to baseball action which is what he loves to do most.

It took some time to get his body ready for Major League action but being ready by Memorial Day was truly something special to watch.

There was a lot of anticipation for his return and the White Sox crowd saluted him well. He received a standing ovation and everything else that comes with a return like that.

The Chicago White Sox are lucky to have Liam Hendriks in the mix.

To be honest, this was one of the greatest moments in the history of the Chicago White Sox organization and Guaranteed Rate Field. Sometimes, things are bigger than baseball.

This was a moment way bigger than the game. It was a moment in which a fellow human being got back to living his dream after an intense battle with cancer. He is truly an inspiration to everyone out there fighting the big fight right now.

Chicago, baseball fan or not, is lucky to have Liam Hendriks as a part of their fabric. He is an amazing person off the field which makes how good he is on the field even more impressive.

He pitches like an angry man with a chip on his shoulder because that is what allows him to be successful. Once the lights of the game are dimmed, however, there are few warmer people out there.

It is unclear how much longer Hendriks will be on the White Sox with the status of the team right now but we have to enjoy it while it lasts. He is truly a special player that all of us are lucky to watch play.

Now that he is back, it is time to start seeing the team win a bit more for him. Nobody deserves it more than him so it would be nice to see them find a way to pick it back up.
