Whatever the outcome is in these NBA Playoffs, it has been one wild ride; a ride Chicago Bulls fans can only dream of right now.

The Bulls are nowhere near competing for a championship, and seem to be stuck in mediocrity. Before the Boston Celtics came back from being down 0-3, it was looking as though both the Bulls and Celtics could make some serious moves this summer.

The Bulls need to, for obvious reasons. The Celtics, meanwhile, could look to try and improve by dealing a notable player while adding another, in order to end up on top of the league as a champion.

Now, a major move isn’t out of the question for either team. After all, the NBA offseason can be a hectic time most years. Let’s say both of these teams decided to make a move, with the Celtics having a championship on their mind, and the Bulls looking at rebuilding or retooling for the future.

Trade Number 1: The Chicago Bulls could trade Zach LaVine to the Celtics

The first deal Chicago and Boston could look at is an intriguing swap of wing players. First of all, this deal would be mostly about the Bulls getting out of Zach LaVine’s contract. Here’s the thing, the Bulls have a first-round pick in 2024. That’s a good start to rebuilding. DeMar DeRozan is in the last year of his contract, and could also be traded.

The Bulls could choose to completely strip it down, and a deal like this would help.

The Bulls would give up LaVine, who joins Jayson Tatum and might be a better fit as a shot creator for himself. Boston also gets a first-round pick in 2027 since they’re taking on that contract.

For the Bulls, Brown’s contract is up after next season, so they’d truly be free to enter into the 2024 offseason with a ton of financial freedom and some draft capital to use. Speaking of draft capital, if they were able to find a deal for DeRozan, that would net at least another first-round selection coming back.
