The Chicago Bulls and Michael Jordan would have never won six NBA championships without Scottie Pippen.

Jordan said as much in The Last Dance documentary. Pippen did not like how he was portrayed in the production and blamed Jordan for it.

He wrote about it in his autobiography Unguarded and detailed his displeasure with Air Jordan.

Scottie did not hold back his feelings about Jordan again with some of his recent comments. He first claimed LeBron James is the greatest player of all time. One reason is that Michael Jordan was not good before Pippen came to the Chicago Bulls.

Pippen then added that Jordan used The Last Dance to keep himself relevant.

Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan have the Chicago Bulls in the news again.

Pippen’s comments come across as petty and jealous. He has a right to be frustrated with Jordan. It probably does not help Jordan’s son is dating Scottie’s ex-wife. At the same time, Jordan tried to be complimentary of Pippen in the documentary.

Also, Jordan does not need a 10-part documentary series to stay relevant. He has a desired shoe and owns the Charlotte Hornets.

Scottie has always been sensitive about he is perceived despite causing a lot of drama with his words, actions, or misconceptions.

He chose to sit those final 1.3 seconds in the 1994 playoffs because he was not going to get the last shot.

Head coach Phil Jackson drew up the play for Toni Kukoc and Pippen refused to check in. The problem that Pippen ignored was Jackson called up a last-second play that worked earlier in the season.

It was a major moment in Chicago Bulls history that should have been covered in the Last Dance. At least Pippen bounced back and nearly led the Chicago Bulls to a playoff series win over the Knicks. He did register the greatest dunk in playoff history.

Pippen also waited to get surgery on his foot until right before the start of the 1997 season because he did not want to ruin his summer. He said that on camera in The Last Dance.

Pippen complained about his contract constantly but he signed it in the first place. Even owner Jerry Reinsdorf told him it was probably not a good idea. Reinsdorf mentioned it in The Last Dance.

The issue with Scottie Pippen is it is always someone’s fault. It was Jerry Krause’s fault because he was underpaid despite wanting financial security. It was Michael’s fault that the Last Dance decided to go over the migraine game in Detroit.

Although, it must not be easy to accept being the greatest sidekick ever. Everybody wants to be Batman.

By Pippen accepting being Robin, it allowed Jordan and the Chicago Bulls to win those titles. Maybe, this is just Scottie working through dealing with wanting to be remembered for being greater than how he is perceived.
