OTAs are in full swing for the Chicago Bears, and fans are loving every minute of the offseason content. From the short video clips of Justin Fields throwing to his new receivers, to the post-practice media time, we live for this.

This means we’re just one major step closer to another football season. But, it’s taken a lot to get to this point.

The Bears ended last year with the league’s worst record. It doesn’t get much worse than that. But, somehow, the fan base is anxiously awaiting a much-improved campaign in 2023. There is more hope in the air in Chicago, and it’s all because of the work general manager Ryan Poles has done.

Poles has had a fantastic offseason, but five of his moves in particular stand out as the best of them all.

5. Nate Davis gave the Chicago Bears much-needed offensive line help

Going into the offseason, the Bears had a big weakness up front. Both the interior and exterior of the offensive line had to be improved. Almost right out of the gate, the Bears signed starting guard Nate Davis, thus giving them a head start on improving the line as a whole.

Davis was one of the better pass blocking guards available on the free agent market, and the Bears jumped quickly at signing him. He’s also a solid run blocker, too. He’s actually very well-rounded, and just his addition gave Chicago a lot of freedom going forward.

What they decide to do with Cody Whitehair, Lucas Patrick and Teven Jenkins, now, remains to be seen. But, Davis is locked in as a starter, and competition will be bred this summer. That’s a huge positive.
