The Chicago Bears had a strong performance in the 2023 NFL Draft based on potential. They grabbed a few players that should end up being very good.

There is one pick they made that should have everyone just a bit more excited. When they drafted Roschon Johnson, they got someone that could become a star.

They got him in the fourth round (115th overall) which is great value for him. He would have gone way higher in the draft had he not been the backup at Texas.

He was the number two back behind Bijan Robinson who went 8th overall to the Atlanta Falcons. If Robinson wasn’t there at the same time, Johnson would have been the number one and gotten more of the attention.

The Chicago Bears might have gotten a 4th round steal in Roschon Johnson.

A lot of folks believe that he has a lot of talent and could have started at any other school. Now, the Chicago Bears are hoping that he does turn out to be a complete steal.

Honestly, it is far to wonder if he is going to be a superstar right out of the gate. You know, one of those rookie running backs who are very good right away. We’ve seen that happen with so many guys in recent years as it is a position that can easily adjust to the pros.

If he turned out to be a star back right away, it would be considered one of Ryan Poles’ best draft picks up to this point. With the talent that we know Johnson has, it is certainly possible.

He will be getting a decent amount of playing time in 2023. Who knows, maybe he even takes over as the number one back. That would mean that he is helping the offense take big steps.

If the Bears did find themselves a superstar running back, that would also take a lot of pressure off of Justin Fields which would also keep him much fresher. Hopefully, all of this comes to be.
