Candidates to be Chicago Bears third QB on the roster: Nathan Peterman

The third and most obvious choice to be the Bears’ third string quarterback is Nathan Peterman, who spent last season in that role. However, the difference this season would of course be the fact that he’d have to be on the active roster.

Last season, Peterman was active for three games and started in one. He finished the year going 14 of 25 for 139 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Of course, the leg up Peterman will have if there’s any competition for the third job, is knowing the offense already.

One thing Fields recently talked about at OTAs was the fact that he and his teammates who were part of the Bears, last year, are much more comfortable within the offense after having learned it in 2022. Peterman is included in that group, surely.

Peterman is the most experienced out of all three guys on this list, too, which will give him quite the advantage. Sure, the third quarterback is unlikely to be used at all, but Peterman did see action last year. Therefore, having NFL experience is a huge plus. But, if the Bears wanted to go the youthful route, then one of the previous two guys are great candidates as well.
