Veteran pass rushers the Chicago Bears can still sign: Frank Clark
It feels like he has been around much longer, but Frank Clark is only about to turn 30 years old in June. Starting his career with the Seattle Seahawks back in 2015, he spent four seasons there before playing his next four with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Not quite the player he was in Seattle, Clark is still an effective rusher worthy of a spot in an NFL rotation. There’s always the possibility the Chiefs bring him back on a cheaper deal to be part of yet another run, but at the moment he remains unsigned.
Last year, Clark finished with a ho-hum 5.0 sacks in 15 games, although he did total 29 pressures. His best seasons as a pro came back in 2016 and 2018 where he finished with 10.0 and 13.0 sacks, respectively.
The Chiefs cut him earlier in the offseason before they were liable for a cap hit of over $28 million, which is a ton for a guy coming off four-straight seasons with single-digit sacks. Now, again, he’s still a good enough player to bring in and would offer the Bears some leadership in such a young room. But, he’d have to accept far less money than the Chiefs were paying him.
