Chicago Bulls Rumors: 3 splash trades to acquire Damian Lillard
By Ryan Heckman
With the 2023 NBA Draft Lottery going the way it did, the Chicago Bulls are now in a position where it’s going to be hard to improve this roster over the offseason.
The team is in a tough spot when it comes to trading draft picks, and their salary cap is tied up mostly due to a huge Zach LaVine contract and DeMar DeRozan’s last year of his deal.
However, a trade wouldn’t be out of the question if the right opportunity presented itself. One such mega trade that could happen this summer now might include the name Damian Lillard.
For a long time, Lillard has maintained his loyalty to the Portland Trailblazers. But, that could all be coming to an end for the 32-year-old veteran point guard.
If Lillard is indeed, finally, open to a trade, then almost every team should at least be calling Portland. The Bulls might not be the best trade partner, but they might as well give it a shot.
Before the Chicago Bulls made an offer for Damian Lillard, a few things would have to happen
If the Bulls even attempted to land Lillard, a few things would have to be true. First of all, Coby White could not be on this roster. Taking away any potential salary for White would help clear some space.
Secondly, Nikola Vucevic would be allowed to walk, opening up a little more room.
Third, the Bulls would have to be granted some sort of exception for Lonzo Ball, and if they were, then, most likely, 50 percent of his salary would count against the cap.
If all of that is true, then the Bulls would have room to be able to offer the following packages.
Disclaimer: These are the best possible packages, draft capital-wise, that the Bulls could offer due to being unable to trade picks until 2027.
