6 Chicago Bears players who will be cut before 2023 season

Chicago Bears players who will be cut before 2023 season: CB Jaylon Jones
Cornerback is finally an area where the Bears will enter a season with some adequate depth. Looking ahead, the top two reserves are going to be veteran Kindle Vildor and rookie Terrell Smith out of Minnesota.
That means the Bears are going to be rolling with Jaylon Johnson and rookie Tyrique Stevenson on the outside, with last year’s second-round pick, Kyler Gordon, manning the slot. Beyond those five, there might be one more spot left on the roster, if the Bears are going to carry six cornerbacks.
That spot will be manned by one of Jaylon Jones, Michael Ojemudia, Greg Stroman or Josh Blackwell. Any of those four would be a wildcard, should they be inserted into regular season action.
But, based on how poorly Jones played at times last season, the Bears should opt to go with one of the other three. Last season, Jones played a total of 274 coverage snaps and finished with an abysmal 50.1 coverage grade from Pro Football Focus.
That checks out, too, because based on the games I saw from Jones, he looked completely lost at times. He looked a step or two behind every play and got beat on several occasions.
There is also still time for the team to sign a veteran to fill out the depth chart, if they choose to go that route.
