The bulk of the offseason headlines are now over. The Chicago Bears are getting into the thick of their offseason program, with OTAs beginning on May 22 and going through June 8, with various dates on and off and a total of 10 practices.

General manager Ryan Poles, in the midst of his second full offseason with the Bears, has done an admirable job turning over this roster and rebuilding it into a respectable one that appears ready to ascend going forward.

The Bears might not end the 2023 season with a playoff berth, but improving upon the league’s worst overall record is indeed in the cards, with the possibility of ending the year with a winning record.

Because of the job Poles has done, the Bears now have far more depth at key positions.

The Chicago Bears have excellent depth at many positions, meaning some intriguing cuts will take place before the 2023 season

If you look across the roster, positions like wide receiver and linebacker have gone from a liability to a strength. The Bears, under Poles, have done a fantastic job building those positions. With acquisitions like D.J. Moore, Tremaine Edmunds and T.J. Edwards, along with draft picks like Tyler Scott and Noah Sewell, Poles has turned these positions into enormous strengths.

Other positions to improve include the offensive line and cornerback. We could also dive deep into the running back room, which look drastically different, too.

The bottom line is, Poles has made a ton of moves to take this roster from the bottom of the barrel and turn it into a competitive group of guys, if all goes according to plan.

Because of the depth the Bears now have, there are going to be some guys who don’t make the final roster which saw regular season action a year ago. Six players, in particular, are likely to get cut before the season kicks off in September.
