There is a lot to know for Chicago Blackhawks fans who are excited that their team has the number one pick in the 2023 NHL Draft.

Fans had to go a whole two months without a superstar on their team as Patrick Kane was traded to the New York Rangers. Jonathan Toews was an elite superstar at one point but he only played the final few games of the season due to health-related issues.

Chicago is going to select Regina St. Pats star Connor Bedard with this first pick. It is a selection that could change the fortunes of the franchise for years to come. He is the most hyped prospect since Connor McDavid in 2015 and Sidney Crosby in 2005 before him.

There are folks out there that believe that he is a generational player that is a lock to have a Hall of Fame career in the NHL.

Well, what are the traits that he has that make him so good? Why do people see him as such a star even though he is only 17 years old? These are the three biggest reasons why:

1. His Shot

Connor Bedard’s shot is a great asset ahead of joining the Chicago Blackhawks.

One of Connor Bedard’s biggest strengths (if not his biggest strength) is his ability to shoot the puck. Only Auston Matthews of the Toronto Maple Leafs has a shot on the level of Bedard right now.

He almost invented a new way to shoot it with the way he drags and releases. It is going to throw off a lot of goalies across the league for years to come.

This shot might allow Bedard to break some Chicago Blackhawks records. They haven’t had a 50-goal man in a while. Don’t be surprised if he ends that drought early on in his career. Watching him light the lamp is going to be so special.
