The Chicago White Sox might need to fire Ethan Katz at some point soon.

You never want to see someone lose their job. At the same time, desperate times call for a bold move. The Chicago White Sox pitching has not been good lately. You cannot fire all the players but you can fire the coach.

Pedro Grifol just got here so his job is safe. Pitching coach Ethan Katz has been on the Southside for a few seasons and the pitching has steadily declined.

In 2021, the Sox had the fifth-best team ERA. Last year they dropped to 16th. Now, the Sox team’s ERA is the second-worst in the league.

Lucas Giolito, Lance Lynn, and Dylan Cease have all had success and struggled under Katz’s guidance.

A coaching change might be what the rotation and bullpen need to snap out of their struggles. Something needs to be done. Otherwise, this season might be officially lost by Memorial Day if it isn’t already.
