The Chicago White Sox are a bad baseball team. They struggle to score runs, pitch the ball, and catch it. No wonder the White Sox have such a bad run differential. Just when you think this team is about to hit rock bottom, they keep digging.

They are apparently incapable of generating any momentum to turn their season around. After going 8-21 in April, the Sox started off May winning four of their next six, including taking a series over the Minnesota Twins.

Then the Kansas City Royals took three of four from them while the Astros took two of three and killed any good vibes.

Fangraphs gives the White Sox a less than five percent chance of winning the AL Central and making the playoffs. The math right now is not even in the Sox’s favor to go 81-81.

They would need to win 72 more games just to get to 86 wins and even that might not be enough to win the AL Central.

Manager Pedro Grifol is trying anything he can think of to turn this season around. It seems like all he is doing is taking a spoon to bail water out of this sinking ship when a bucket is needed.

He has tried the hardline approach when he benched Luis Robert Jr. for not running hard enough to first base. It turned out Robert Jr. was dealing with a tight hamstring and never told anyone.

Grifol has tried the “it is just one game in a long season” approach. Heck, he even held a team meeting and the Sox still lost.

Desperate times call for desperate measures and the Chicago White Sox could try these three strategies to see if it can turn around the 2023 season. If they do not work out, then it might be time to wave the white flag on the season and acknowledge the contention window is closed.
