The Chicago White Sox will probably be sellers at the trade deadline.

USA Today’s Bob Nightengale reported that the Sox might trade pitchers Lucas Giolito, Kendall Graveman, and Joe Kelly if the Southsiders are out of the playoff race before the August 1st trade deadline.

Nightengale is very well connected with White Sox leadership so when he reports rumors like this, you better take it seriously.

Giolito is set to be a free agent after the season and Reinsdorf has never been one to pay a contract over $100 million. That is a contract Lucas Giolito will possibly command on the open market.

He will have a healthy trade market for his services.

Yasmani Grandal is also set to be a free agent after the season. Lance Lynn, Liam Hendriks, and Tim Anderson could also join Grandal in free agency if the club does not exercise their team option. Although, it would be highly unlikely for the club to decline Hendriks’ and Anderson’s options.

The Chicago White Sox have a few players that still have some value to restock the team’s barren farm system.

It would mean another rebuild, which might not be what fans want to go through. The Sox could also use the deadline as they did in 2007 and acquire some talent for a run at the division title much like in 2008.
