3 veteran tackles the Chicago Bears must sign after 2023 NFL Draft

The Chicago Bears’ offensive line was one of the least consistent in the NFL last year. Because of this, it wasn’t surprising to see Ryan Poles make moves early in both free agency and the draft.
The first offensive line move made was the signing of guard Nate Davis. A fast and physical run blocker that led the way for Derrick Henrey in Tennessee, Davis is expected to bring dependability to the windy city.
In the recent NFL draft, Ryan Poles also committed to the tackle position, selecting University of Tennessee standout Darnell Wright with the Bears’ first pick. The tackle position has been a revolving door the past few seasons so adding an elite talent like Wright will bring a sense of security to Justin Fields and the rest of the offense.
However, besides the additions of Davis and Wright, there were no other moves made. In the NFL, offensive line depth is as important to a team’s success as anything so it is unlikely that the Bears are done adding to the unit.
The Chicago Bears need some help on the offensive line ahead of 2023.
Depth-wise, the loser of the center battle between Cody Whitehair and Lucas Patrick will likely act as the swing interior player, as both have playing experience at center and guard. Larry Borom also finished the 2022 season playing guard so he also could act as another interior swing option in 2023.
The depth at tackle is much weaker. Alex Leatherwood is the only non-starting tackle on the roster who’s seen any game action. Obviously not ideal. Leatherwood has the measurables to make it in the league but up to this point, he’s struggled.
With that being said, the Bears desperately need to add a swing tackle to the roster before fall camp. Here are the three veteran tackles the Bears must sign after the 2023 NFL draft:
