The Chicago Blackhawks won the 2023 NHL Draft Lottery. They are going to be drafting Connor Bedard with the first overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft. This is an event that has changed the course of the franchise.

Bedard is an elite shooter that can legit go on to score 700 goals in the NHL. Combine that with some really good skating along with outstanding playmaking ability and you get this superstar prospect.

Adding a stud like this might make some free agents want to come to play in Chicago. We’ve seen that across the league before and it could happen here again with the Hawks.

One of those free agents that they try to get could be Patrick Kane. Of course, as his contract was expiring this season, they traded him to the New York Rangers.

He didn’t have much success there as he put up mediocre point totals and they were bounced in the first round by the New Jersey Devils. Now, his deal is up and he can sign with whatever team wants to bring him in.

Connor Bedard’s arrival could be a way to get Patrick Kane back to Chicago.

Kane coming back to Chicago would obviously be very exciting for a variety of reasons. Although he is not the guy competing for Hart Trophies or scoring titles anymore, he is still a fantastic player that can contribute some offense.

If you put him on a power play with Connor Bedard, it would be really cool to see. We already know that Kane’s playmaking abilities are still there and Bedard might be able to shoot it better than anyone that Kane has ever played with.

There would be instant offense injected back into Kane’s game if he got to play with a stud like Bedard. He might just also be reenergized to play if he not only got to come back to Chicago but also play with this supremely skilled teenager.

It wouldn’t hurt for Kane to also be there for the kid trying to basically have the same career he did. Bedard is way more hyped coming out of junior but Kane knows what it is like to turn all that talent into championship-level success.

Kane, like (soon-to-be) Bedard, was also a number one overall pick by the Blackhawks. Having someone like that would be a great way to ease him into the league. This might be a long shot but it is, at minimum, very fun to think about for Hawks fans.
