Chicago Bears rookie running back Roschon Johnson will do anything asked of him

So, we know he’s a former quarterback. We know he’s a patient runner with great vision, yet also a violent stiff arm. He’s hard to bring down. Johnson, by all accounts, is a pretty talented running back. But, he’s far more complete than you might think.

Despite his physical appearance leading one to believe he’s more of an early down back, or a goal line specialist, Johnson can, in fact, catch the football. He caught 56 passes at Texas, proving he can affect the game in both facets on offense.

Not just on offense, though, but special teams is also where Johnson can shine. He’s been active in all four phases. He’s returned a few kicks, and played on kickoff and punt teams, too.

Back to the offensive side, once more. Johnson came into this draft as one of the top pass blocking backs in all of college football, which is something the Bears will rely on with a mobile quarterback like Fields. Being able to keep his quarterback upright, especially when handling a blitz, is going to be a key component of what Johnson brings to Chicago.
