Chicago Bears rookie running back Roschon Johnson has less wear and tear on him than Bijan Robinson

With all the hype coming behind Bijan Robinson during this year’s draft process, Johnson was a forgotten man. But, when the Bears finally selected Johnson, one of the first things we heard about him was the phrase, “Bijan Robinson’s backup.”

Knowing Johnson had been at Texas even longer than Robinson, one might think he has less tread on his tires than the first-round pick. But, that’s far from the case, believe it or not.

Texas rode Robinson heavily during his time there, and the new Atlanta Falcons running back finished his college career with 539 carries in three years. Johnson, meanwhile, carried the ball 392 times in four seasons at Texas, with the most carries coming in his freshman year.

So, he comes to the Bears having far less wear and tear on his body than the likes of Robinson. As someone with a patient, yet violent running style, that’s a huge plus. Watching him run, at times, Johnson can look like a young Derrick Henry. With that skillset, Johnson has the potential of getting worn down quickly. But, he has a lot of football ahead of him in the NFL.
