Chicago Bears: 3 possible ripple effects of drafting Tyler Scott

Ripple effects from Chicago Bears drafting Tyler Scott: Bears allow Darnell Mooney or Chase Claypool to walk in 2024
The easiest takeaway from the Tyler Scott pick will reflect the roster in 2024. Both Darnell Mooney and Chase Claypool are entering the final year of their rookie contracts, meaning the Bears will have some decisions to make next offseason.
It will be interesting to see what Poles does, because Scott makes one of them expendable. By all accounts, Scott is someone the Bears will want to see on the field more and more over his rookie season and into his sophomore year.
This was a well-planned move by Poles, too, because there’s no way the Bears choose to pay both Mooney and Claypool. The question becomes, though, which one they opt to pay. If I was a betting man, it’ll be Claypool, so long as he performs up to snuff in his second year with the Bears.
Scott and Mooney have too many similarities in stature and skillset. Although fans have loved Mooney in Chicago, he might be on his way out after just a few years. However, Scott’s arrival allows the Bears to become more financially stable if they don’t have to pay Mooney. That’s a positive.
