Surprise cuts the Chicago Bears could make after 2023 NFL Draft: Dante Pettis, WR

The Bears’ wide receivers are pretty much set with the top three being DJ Moore, Darnell Mooney and Chase Claypool. From there, most would agree that rookie fourth-round pick Tyler Scott is going to be the fourth guy in line.

Then, the Bears will likely utilize the bigger-bodied Equanimeous St. Brown, whom they re-signed this offseason. St. Brown is a valuable run blocker and gives the Bears a different type of target, being so big and strong.

That’s five, right there. It’s unlikely that Poles would make a decision to cut last year’s third-round pick, Velus Jones Jr., therefore Dante Pettis is the odd man out. The reason this would be a bit surprising? The team just re-signed Pettis less than a month ago. That would sting a little, if you’re Pettis.

But, the Bears now have plenty of speed and options on special teams. Pettis simply doesn’t have a spot on this regular season roster. And, like some of the other guys on this list, it might just make sense for the Bears to allow Pettis to find a new home sooner rather than later.
