Day 2 prospects the Chicago Bears should trade up for in the 2023 NFL Draft: O’Cyrus Torrence, G, Florida

The Bears went offensive line in the first round, but they would only further cement their belief in Justin Fields if they decided to do that again in the second round. There are a couple of strong options on the interior for Day 2, with Wisconsin’s Joe Tippmann being a very popular riser over the last couple of weeks.

In addition, TCU’s Steve Avila will likely hear his name called. But, maybe the best overall interior lineman available on Day 2 is Florida’s O’Cyrus Torrence.

The Bears could use youth on the interior, and might end up cutting ties with Cody Whitehair if they make this pick. Torrence would allow Lucas Patrick to slide back into the starting center role while he mans the other guard spot next to Nate Davis.

Torrence is a heavy hitter. He’s a big, powerful man that excels with his strength over anything else. At some point over the last couple of months, he was looked at as a first-round talent. He’s likely slid because of a lack of athleticism. But, in a run-heavy offense that loves to pound the rock, Torrence will fit well.

There would be no bigger statement regarding the team’s commitment to Fields than drafting yet another offensive lineman in Round 2.
