Day 2 prospects who could fall to the Chicago Bears in 2023 NFL Draft: DJ Turner, CB, Michigan

Chicago’s cornerback room looks better than it did before the draft a year ago, for sure, after the team added Kyler Gordon and adding in the fact that Kindle Vildor improved greatly in 2022. Still, Vildor shouldn’t be counted on as the second starter next to Jaylon Johnson going into this season.

If DJ Turner is on the board late in the second round, Poles might have a tough time passing on him. This is a kid who fits the mold in terms of the type of player he and Matt Eberflus are looking for. Eberflus likes to run, and well, Turner is an absolute track star.

The former Wolverine ran a red-hot 4.26 in his 40-yard dash at the Combine, which is historically good. He stands 5-foot-11, so Turner has ideal size for the outside. Take his size, speed and ability to move his hips fluidly, matching receivers’ routes well, and you’ve got yourself a Day 2 steal.

Turner would immediately step in and start next to Johnson, locking in Gordon to the slot position. The Bears’ secondary would be young, dynamic and full of guys who simply love to make plays.
